China’s sports tourism industry is already worth RMB 206 billion (USD 31 billion) as of the end of 2015, according to a recent report published by Chinese think tank Qianzhan.

The report suggests the industry is growing on average 30%-40% yearly, and is poised to reach RMB 1 trillion (USD 150 billion) by 2020. Chinese tour operators are already seeing the impact. Ctrip, China’s largest online travel agency (OTA), is reporting a 400% YoY rise in their sports-themed tour products in the first six months of 2016, reported Jing Daily.
